Google has added a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time themed Easter egg to its search engine, transforming the user interface to mimic 1998 results as the gaming world anticipates the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of the classic title.

When users search for terms including "Zelda," "Ocarina of Time," or "tloz," a hovering Master Sword graphic appears in the bottom-right corner of the search results page. Clicking the sword produces a sound effect of Link screaming "Hya," after which the Triforce symbol overtakes the screen and transforms the interface to resemble the layout of 1998.

The transformed page features the classic Google logo with exclamation mark, blue links in a Times New Roman-type font, and results listed in order of relevance without modern AI search results, shopping links, or advertisements. Users can click the sword again to return to the current search interface.

The Easter egg is part of Google's history of video game homages, which previously included interactive Super Mario question mark blocks in 2015, a Breakout-style game, and a Pokémon Pokédex mini-game that remains active. The current tribute coincides with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, release expected in the coming days.

While some observers have noted the feature serves as a reminder of changes to Google's search platform over the years, the company has not issued an official statement connecting the Easter egg to any broader strategic initiative. The feature remains active for users who search the relevant terms.
