NEW DELHI — The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation launched a WhatsApp-based service on November 1, enabling salaried employees to check their EPF balance, view the last five transactions and download their passbook without logging into the member portal. Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the facility during EPFO's 74th Foundation Day celebrations.

The service, accessible by sending 'Hi' to EPFO's verified number +91 8796441800 or by scanning a QR code shared on the organisation's verified social media accounts, aims to improve access for employees who find the EPFO website difficult to navigate. The chatbot-guided process requires members to select a preferred language, choose a service, and complete OTP verification using the mobile number registered with their Universal Account Number.

Under the facility, members can check their PF balance, view their last five transactions — including recent contributions and withdrawals — and download their passbook to review contributions made by themselves and their employers. The service also provides personalised guidance on requirements under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

Officials noted that since the facility was recently launched, some users have reported difficulties receiving OTPs. Members are advised to ensure their registered mobile number is active. The Jammu regional office event on the same day stressed the timely settlement of workers' and pensioners' provident fund claims and pension benefits.

EPFO said in a statement its journey 'is not merely a story of institutional growth; it is a continuing commitment to ensure that the fruits of a worker's years of labour translate into security, dignity and peace of mind for the worker and the family.'
