GUWAHATI — Harsh Dubey delivered a bowling performance of rare precision as Madhya Pradesh routed Assam for 135 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match.

After Assam opener Yash Dubey was removed by Nachiket Bhute early in the innings, Harsh Dubey took control, claiming the remaining nine wickets for 53 runs. His haul included the dismissal of the Assam tail as the side was bundled out in under 49 overs. Ritesh Bhatkal and Shikhar Shetty also claimed five-wicket hauls as the batting line-up collapsed around them.

Opting to bat first, Madhrana Pradesh built a platform despite early losses, reaching stumps with a respectable lead. The disciplined bowling effort put the visitors in a strong position on day one.

The performance by Dubey, who claimed all nine remaining wickets after the opening partnership was broken, stands as one of the most dominant individual bowling displays of the season so far. His figures of 9 for 53 are the highlight of a day where spin and seam combined to frustrate the Assam batters throughout their innings.
