Everton manager David Moyes confirmed Jack Grealish remains unavailable for selection following a disciplinary breach, with the midfielder absent from the squad for both Premier League and Carabao Cup matches against Newcastle.
Grealish, 31, joined Everton on loan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day and has made six appearances for the Toffees since. The England international was left out of Thursday's 3-1 Carabao Cup victory at St James' Park after what the club described as an unauthorised absence from training, and was again absent for Monday's 1-0 Premier League win at the same ground.
When asked about the situation at full-time, Moyes was evasive, stating only: "He's unavailable at the moment and we will make a decision with the club when we think that availability comes back."
"All I'm giving out is that he is unavailable at the moment," Moyes added when pressed on whether the absence was fitness-related.
The manager refused to confirm whether the disciplinary issue is resolved, saying: "No, I can't comment on that."
The disciplinary issue stems from Grealish skipping Everton training without authorisation. Everton won both matches without the loanee — Thierno Barry scoring the only goal in the Premier League fixture — with Moyes opting to name two goalkeepers on the bench for the Newcastle encounters.
Grealish, in the final season of his Manchester City contract, has yet to score since joining Everton. The situation remains unresolved as the club and player navigate the disciplinary matter.
