Cupertino — Apple Inc. is preparing a significant product refresh for 2027, with the next-generation MacBook Pro OLED models and a suite of tablet updates planned for the first half of the year, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

The second-generation touch-enabled MacBook Pro OLED is expected to launch in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, sporting M7 Pro and M7 Max chipsets alongside new AI hardware capabilities. A thinner, lighter entry-level 14-inch M7 MacBook Pro with slimmer bezels is also in development. On the tablet front, Apple will refresh its iPad lineup in the first half of 2027, with the iPad Air gaining an OLED display and the iPad Pro receiving a vapor chamber cooling system for improved sustained performance during AI and gaming tasks. The entry-level iPad 12 is expected to gain Apple Intelligence support with an A19 chipset upgrade, along with Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a C1X modem on cellular models.

Gurman indicated these refreshed tablets could debut before June 2027, with no new iPad launches planned for the second half of the year. The iPad Pro is expected to transition to an M6 chipset, while the base iPad will receive its first Apple Intelligence capabilities through processor and memory upgrades. Apple sold approximately 60 million iPads in the previous fiscal year, underscoring the platform's continued importance to the company's product mix.

The MacBook Pro OLED updates represent Apple's second generation of touchscreen laptops with OLED displays, following the M5-powered models. The new M7 series chipsets are expected to bring significant performance improvements and new AI-related features. On the tablet side, the iPad Air's adoption of OLED technology marks a significant design shift for the mid-range line, bringing it in line with the iPad mini and iPad Pro.
