RAJINIKANTH'S JAILER 2 CROSSES RS 812 CR WORLDWIDE BY DAY 19

MUMBAI - Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 collected approximately Rs 812 crore worldwide by day 19, the film's distributors reported Monday. The figure represents the latest tally as the Rajinikanth-starrer enters its third weekend in theaters.

The film witnessed a significant 69.6% drop in collections on Monday compared to its opening day, a steep decline that is typical for big-budget Tamil releases in their second and third weeks. Despite the sharp drop, Jailer 2 maintained strong performance in its home market, closing in on Vijay's The GOAT record in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu led the state-wise collection on Monday, with day 19 occupancy varying across languages. The film's third week India net collection reached Rs 29.80 crore, distributors said.

Box office analysts note that the trajectory reflects the current pattern for major Tamil releases, where opening day frenzy gives way to sustained but reduced weekday collections. The Rs 812 crore worldwide figure, while substantial, remains approximate and may be updated as official studio data is finalized and additional international market reports are concluded.

The film's performance in Tamil Nadu remains the key metric, where it has emerged as one of the highest-grossing Tamil releases of the year, narrowing the gap with Vijay's The GOAT in the state's crucial market.

Industry sources caution that final figures may shift as studio reports are updated, but the current trajectory indicates Jailer 2 has secured a significant place among 2024's biggest Tamil releases.
