Kangana Ranaut embraces Gujarati maximalism in vibrant, heavily embellished ensemble
AHMEDABAD, India — Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut celebrated Gujarati culture and maximalist aesthetic during a November 2 visit to Ahmedabad, sharing photographs on Instagram wearing a richly embellished traditional ensemble.
The outfit featured a multi-hued, jewel-toned drape paired with a heavily embellished blouse. The choli featured dense embroidery, intricate threadwork, beadwork and mirror work across its short sleeves and deep neckline, bringing texture and sparkle to the look. The drape, meanwhile, was adorned with tapestry-inspired motifs that evoked traditional Indian textile artistry. Deep navy, emerald and ruby tones lent richness to the ensemble, while the embroidered border and delicate bead tassels, or latkans, added movement and detail.
Kangana accessorised the look with heritage-inspired jewellery that complemented the outfit without competing with its intricate patterns. A gold-toned polki or kundan choker, finished with dangling pearls, framed her neckline, while matching earrings kept the styling cohesive. Dark bangles, accented with gold kadas on both wrists, added another traditional touch. A small black bindi completed the look.
Her hair and makeup were kept polished and understated to balance the richness of the ensemble. A centre-parted low bun drew attention to the embellished neckline and statement jewellery. Warm-toned eye makeup, defined brows, soft contour and a nude lip finish the look with a subtle, refined touch.
Kangana took to Instagram on November 2 to share the images from Ahmedabad. In her caption, she wrote, ‘A beautiful blend of culture, heritage and authenticity. Gujarat is not just a state, it’s also a state of mind, and that state of mind is called maximalism. Richness of food, music, culture and colours enchants you, unabashed celebration of life in its full glory.’
The look reflects the appeal of traditional Indian fashion, where craftsmanship, colour and cultural identity come together. Kangana’s choice also aligns with the maximalist aesthetic she praised in her caption, celebrating the richness of Gujarati culture through intricate textiles and bold styling. With her latest appearance, Ranaut makes a compelling case for embracing Indian ethnic wear in all its colourful glory, proving that traditional craftsmanship can make a statement without compromising on elegance.
