Glasgow residents reported teenagers throwing fireworks at cars, children, and houses on Halloween night, October 31, in the Govan area. A local resident told Glasgow Live that 'kids were running wild with fireworks' and described the behavior as 'out of control,' questioning where the youths were obtaining fireworks capable of sustaining multiple nights of incidents. Police Scotland received 144 calls relating to fireworks on Saturday, a reduction of 10 per cent compared to 160 calls received during the previous period. Chief Superintendent David Robertson, Gold Commander for Operation Moonbeam, stated that while the overwhelming majority of Scotland's communities celebrated Halloween in the proper spirit, incidents of fireworks used as projectiles at buildings, vehicles and members of the public are 'completely unacceptable' and have to stop before there are serious consequences. Investigations into these offences will be launched immediately to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Moonbeam resources will continue to support local policing teams all over the country throughout the following week wherever reports of fireworks-related crime are received.
