Netflix's Black Doves returns for Season 2 on Thursday, November 5, 2026, with Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw reprising their roles as the series expands its scope in a year that has seen significant turnover for streaming premieres.
The six-episode season drops all at once on Netflix, continuing the story of Helen Webb, a spy who has passed British government secrets to the Black Doves organization while married to UK Defence Secretary Wallace Webb. The political landscape shifts dramatically in the new season, as Wallace is appointed acting Prime Minister, placing Helen in the unprecedented position of conducting espionage against the very government her husband now leads.
Helen's handler, Mrs. Reed, played by Sarah Lancashire, becomes the target of a ruthless plot to undermine Helen's position within the Black Doves spy ring. Meanwhile, Sam Young (Whishaw), a former elite assassin, has become a loose cannon, forced to take on hit jobs without proper due diligence following his breakup with Michael and a job offer from Hector, who now runs a criminal organization.
The season finds loyalties turned into weapons and trust breaking down as the people Helen and Sam love are put at risk. New cast members include Neve Campbell as Cecile Mason, Ambika Mod as Laila, Sam Riley as Patrick, and Sylvia Hoeks as Katia Chernov. Goran Kostic plays Alexi Chernov, Babou Ceesay plays Mr. Conteh, and Samuel Barnett plays Jerry.
Joe Barton created and writes the series, with direction from Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes. Executive producers include Keira Knightley, Jane Featherstone of Sister and Chris Fry. Season 1, released December 5, 2024, earned Knightley a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a TV drama. Netflix renewed the show for Season 2 before Season 1 premiered but has not announced a third season.
The timing places Black Doves among a crowded November streaming landscape, with Prime Video releasing The Assassin and The Greatest, and Disney+ launching All's Fair, all on Wednesday, November 6. For viewers drawn to the premise of a spy navigating personal and political loyalties, the complete season is available November 5 exclusively on Netflix.
