MUMBAI — Malayalam playback singer Rimi Tomy confirmed she will marry fitness trainer Libin Mathew in November, with a simple church ceremony in Dombivli, Mumbai. The announcement comes nearly seven years after Rimi and her former husband Royce Kizhakoodan filed a mutual consent divorce petition in 2019, ending their 11-year marriage.

Rimi and Libin Mathew began their relationship earlier this year following a phone conversation on March 10. Their first in-person meeting took place four days later on March 14, which Rimi subsequently posted on Instagram. The singer stated they felt an immediate connection and decided to marry soon after meeting.

"We first spoke over the phone on March 10. We have posted a picture on Instagram that was taken on March 14. That was the first time we met in person. We had already spoken over the phone and liked each other before that," Rimi said in a video on her YouTube channel.

The couple decided on a November wedding with a small church ceremony in Dombivli. Rimi emphasized the celebration would be kept simple, with no large guest list from the entertainment industry. "We are getting married in November. The groom is from Bombay and is a Malayali. He is a bodybuilder and a trainer. He is my current coach," she said.

Rimi also addressed social media posts that used photographs of her former husband alongside reports about her upcoming marriage. She stated their separation was a mutual decision and requested people not to involve him in discussions about her present relationship.

"I have seen many posts using my former husband's photograph. Please leave them alone. The decision was mutual between him and me. He has found a partner who is better suited to him than I am. They are living happily. Why bring up his photograph and make unnecessary comments at this time?" she said.

Rimi, who married Royce Kizhakoodan on April 27, 2008 at Lourde Cathedral in Thrissur, has consistently asked the public to respect her ex-husband's privacy. She previously ruled out that her prospective partner was an actor, singer, celebrity or billionaire, describing Mathew instead as someone who brings peace rather than fame or wealth.

The wedding will mark a new chapter for the singer, who has built a successful career in Malayalam cinema and television. Friends and colleagues have noted her focus on companionship and peace in this second marriage, which she has described as developing naturally between two people who understand each other well.
