Bengaluru couple details Rs 75,500 in relocation expenses to Goa

Radhika and Ekansh, a Bengaluru-based couple, relocated to Goa in pursuit of a slower-paced lifestyle, documenting the financial breakdown of their move on Instagram. The pair said they had been planning the transition for more than a year.

Their expenses included packing and storing belongings in Bengaluru at Rs 15,000, transporting luggage to Goa for Rs 24,000, and a road trip that cost Rs 10,000 after factoring in car servicing, PUC certification and petrol. House hunting took three weeks, during which the couple stayed in Airbnb accommodations at a cost of Rs 45,000 — an amount they excluded from their core relocation total, explaining it was comparable to rent they had been paying in Bengaluru.

Additional costs included Rs 5,000 on petrol while visiting properties, Rs 12,000 on food, and Rs 9,500 on setting up their new home, including air conditioner and washing machine installation and hiring a carpenter and plumber. Summing these items — storage, transport, road trip, exploration petrol, food and setup — the couple's additional relocation cost totaled Rs 75,500.

"Given that people spend Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 on a five-day Goa trip, us spending Rs 75,000 to start a new life here is absolutely worth it," Radhika said.

The couple had announced their decision to leave Bengaluru in September, describing it as a long-held dream. Since relocating, they have continued documenting aspects of their life in Goa, including the house-hunting process and expenses involved in starting over.
