LUDHIANA — A 49-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her home in Ludhiana's Vikas Nagar area on November 2, just two days after her husband returned from Australia, police said.

Kamaldeep Kaur was found with multiple stab wounds to the stomach and neck after her elder son, Gagandeep Singh, returned from a local market and discovered her body, police said. Gagandeep had been sent by his father, Ravinder Singh, to buy milk from a nearby market. Upon his return, Gagandeep found his father fleeing the house and was directed to check inside, where he discovered his mother lying in a pool of blood.

Ravinder Singh, 50, returned from Australia on October 29 after the couple visited their younger son. Kamaldeep had returned from Australia approximately four months earlier. Police said preliminary investigation suggests suspected infidelity as the motive, though the exact motive remains under investigation.

Station House Officer Gurmukh Singh said a kitchen knife was used in the crime and was allegedly washed and returned by the accused before he fled. A case of murder has been registered at Dugri police station and Ravinder Singh has been arrested. Interrogation is in progress.

The couple had travelled to Australia to visit their younger son. There had been no visible dispute between the couple following Ravinder's return, police said. Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and determine the motive behind the murder.
