STONEHOUSE, Scotland — The body of Tom Allan, 63, was discovered in the Canderside Toll area of Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, on Monday afternoon, concluding a week-long search that began after he was reported missing from Westmains Farm.
Allan was last seen by his family at approximately 8:15am on Friday, October 23, as he left his home. His disappearance prompted an extensive search by Police Scotland involving a helicopter, dive and marine unit, police dogs, and mountain rescue teams across farmland and the wider local area. Storm Boelo had brought heavy rain and 80mph winds to Scotland the preceding weekend, and police initially asked the public to check sheds and outbuildings.
One week after he went missing, officers re-appealed for information while Allan's family also shared their own appeals. At approximately 1:15pm on Monday, November 2, 2026, a report was received of a body having been found in the Canderside Toll area of Stonehouse, Larkhall.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Mr. Allan's family has been informed. Police said the death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
