Google has added a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time-themed Easter egg to its search engine, coinciding with the Nintendo Switch 2 remake release this week. When users search for "Ocarina of Time" or "Zelda," a Master Sword icon appears in the corner of the search bar. Clicking the sword places it on its pedestal, triggering an animation featuring the Triforce, after which the search results page reverts to a 1998-era layout. The retro version features blue hyperlinks to webpages and brief excerpts, along with the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, without AI overviews or other modern search features. The effect only applies to searches related to the game; other queries return users to the current search interface. The Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Nov. 5. The Easter egg, which technically turns off Google's AI overviews for the duration of the experience, serves as a nostalgic reminder of a search experience before AI features and extensive advertising became prevalent. In 1998, the year the original Ocarina of Time launched, Google presented results as a series of blue links — a format that some users now seek to recapture through this temporary browser experience.
