WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A business jet carrying nine people crashed and burst into a fireball in a South Florida neighborhood Sunday, narrowly missing homes and a busy roadway. The Learjet 60 nosedived and struck the ground near Palm Beach County roadway just after 12:50 p.m., creating a large crater and leaving thick black smoke at the scene. Video recorded by motorists captured the terrifying moment the aircraft plunged from the sky before impacting the roadside. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy posted on X that all aboard were killed in the crash, calling it a horrific tragedy. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said there were no immediate reports of anyone on the ground being injured or killed, describing the scene as looking like a missile going down. The Federal Aviation Administration said it is sending a team to support the National Transportation Safety Board's investigation. The aircraft was bound for the Bahamas at the time of the crash.
