Justin Timberlake is set to release a four-part docuseries on Apple TV in December, described as a "tell-all" project that will feature Janet Jackson discussing the 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction, Variety reported. The series comes amid a reflective chapter for Timberlake, who in 2021 publicly apologized to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for the disparate treatment they received following the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show incident. During the performance, Timberlake exposed Jackson's breast by grabbing at her costume while singing "Gonna have you naked by the end of this song," an incident that became known as "Nipplegate" and resulted in Jackson facing significant professional repercussions, including being blacklisted from radio, while Timberlake's career continued to flourish. The docuseries, directed by Fisher Stevens, will see Jackson discussing the incident that defined a pivotal moment in her career. In his 2021 apology, Timberlake acknowledged that the industry is flawed and sets men, especially white men, up for success. Beyond the Super Bowl project, Timberlake has been candid about his health struggles, revealing in 2025 that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which affected his performances during his "Forget Tomorrow" global tour. The tour had also been complicated by his 2024 DWI conviction, for which he pleaded guilty to a lesser impaired-driving charge and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service. The series represents a significant revisiting of an incident that shaped the trajectories of both artists, with Timberlake seeking to address past controversies as he moves into a new chapter.
