Rebecca Stokell of Ireland has been suspended for violating anti-doping reporting requirements, Cricket Ireland and the International Cricket Council confirmed on Monday.

Stokell, 26, provided a sample on June 23 during Ireland's defeat by Sri Lanka at the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup. The sample returned an adverse finding for a specified substance. While the substance was not performance-enhancing, Stokell acknowledged she did not comply with the regulations around reporting prescription medication use.

Cricket Ireland said Stokell has entered voluntary suspension effective October 23 while awaiting the ICC investigation outcome. In a statement, Stokell said she fully accepts her mistake and hopes to be back playing for Ireland soon.

Graeme West, Cricket Ireland's director of high performance, said: "While we feel very sorry for Rebecca and have provided the level of support appropriate in these circumstances, this incident does serve as a reminder to all our international players that the Anti-Doping Rules are in place to protect both the sport and the athletes themselves." He added that Cricket Ireland will continue to educate players regularly on these matters and why they are important.

Stokell made her international debut in 2017 and has featured 109 times for Ireland across all formats. The case underscores the importance of compliance with anti-doping procedures even when involving medication not intended to enhance performance.
